Hair transplantation is done due to hair loss because of different reasons.
There are several ways of hair transplantation. These are:
- FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation )
- FUE ( Follicular Unit Extraction )
- Micro FUE ( Micro Folicular Unit Extraction )
Above methods are surgical technique that moves individual hair follicles from a part of the body called the 'donor site' to bald or balding part of the body known as the 'recipient site'.
Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT)Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) is a procedure where hair is transplanted from the permanent zone, the area in the back and sides of the scalp where hair is more resistant to balding, to the bald or balding areas of the scalp. After the patient’s scalp is anesthetized, the doctor removes a strip of tissue from the donor area, an area within the permanent zone, and, once extracted, the donor strip is cut into many individual follicular units using microscopic dissection techniques. As these follicular unit grafts are being prepared, the doctor makes tiny holes in the scalp, called recipient sites, where the grafts are placed.
Follicular unit extraction (FUE)Follicular unit extraction (FUE) is one of two primary methods of obtaining follicular units, naturally occurring groups of one to four hairs, for hair transplantation. In FUE harvesting, individual follicular units are extracted directly from the hair restoration patient's donor area, ideally one at a time.
Micro Follicular Unit Extraction ( Micro Folicular Unit Extraction )İt is a technique of micro hair extraction. Special Microscope should be used as follicule extraction and hair transplantation is done on the micriscopic level.
İs hair transplantation a painful procedure?İt is impossible to make hair transplantation withour anaesthesia. Follicular transplantation as a surgical treatment when tissue is extracted together with follicles. General anaesthesia is done during the surgery. For other methods local anaesthesia can be applied so that patient could feel more comfortable.
Will implanted follicles be accepted by the skin?Most of the follicles are accepted by the skin. You should listen to your doctor’s advice regaridng transplant area care after follicles will be accepted and your hair will start to grow. İt is a very important for achieving good result after surgery. Some follicles will not be accepted by your skin. As a result the number of accpted follicles is less than implanted but it is considered to be normal.
What should be done after surgery ?Transplanted area shouldn’t get in touch with water, shampoo, hair gel, spray, hair dye for a certain period of time. You should not comb or style your hair on the transplanted area. İn general you should avoid all harmful procedures.
Can you do facial hair transplantation with the help of follicles ?The same technique can also be used to give patients more facial hair like moustache and beard.
